The Anderson Home: Original Log Cabin

This log cabin was built circa 1876 by Lewis J. Anderson on a farm northwest of Erie, Kansas. It housed three members of the Anderson family, including a son James, until the construction of a permanent home (date unknown).
With a new house in place the log cabin became part of a barn as a grainery until 1998. Dean Aikins, former owner of the farm and present owner, Lewis Corbett, donated the log cabin to the museum.

On August 1, 1998, John Altman and Joe Woodman dismantled and moved the cabin to the Osage Mission - Neosho County Museum. John, Joe and Chris reassembled the cabin October 13-16, 1998 in the main collection area of the Museum where it remains today.
