This car belonged to Frank and Elizabeth Van Gastel of Pittsburg, Kansas.
It was purchased new on June 12, 1922, for $1,045.00
Frank was a traveling oil salesman for Bowes "Seal Fast" Corporation.
Their daughter was Mrs. H. A. (Betty) Eberwein who lived in St. Paul, Kansas.
The car came with curtains that snapped to the canvas on the roof. Within the side curtain was a cut out for glass that snapped open for fresh air.
The car has been stored
for all these years in the garage of Betty and her son Jack.
Several residents of St. Paul today can still remember this car coming to town for it made many trips to see the Eberwein grandchildren. We understand Elizabeth wasn't very happy to drive her new car on these dirt road.
Didn't the grandparents in 1922 have a nice breezy ride in this Kansas weather with no windows?
Donated to the Museum by Jack and Bob Eberwein.
